Christine & Brendan’s wedding was the perfect reminder that sometimes, smaller really is better. The two met in nursing school and planned a day that felt exactly like them: intimate, relaxed, and completely stress-free. They chose to keep the ceremony extremely small, with only 15 guests present, and then celebrated with around 30 loved ones for cocktail hour and the reception. It felt less like a traditional wedding and more like a beautiful gathering of their closest people.
They chose Club Atwater as their venue, a lovely spot tucked away in the heart of Montreal. On a beautiful hot summer day, the light, the warmth, and the calm energy set the tone for a day that felt effortless from start to finish.
Instead of doing a first look, Christine & Brendan arrived together, a choice that felt very on brand for them and added to the simplicity of the day. From there, we headed out for their couple portraits before the ceremony, wandering through the beautiful streets of Westmount around the venue. It was a perfect setting for a relaxed, low-pressure session, and they were absolute naturals together. We also took a few portraits inside Club Atwater, making the most of the elegant spaces and soft summer light. The whole session felt easy and intimate, just like them, no posing for the sake of posing, just genuine moments and quiet connection before they officially said “I do.”
Christine & Brendan chose to keep their ceremony incredibly intimate, more like a heartfelt gathering than a formal event, which suited them perfectly. They walked down the aisle together, and Brendan’s brother officiated, making the whole moment even more personal.
Their vows were romantic, funny, and so genuine. Every laugh and every emotional moment felt shared, and there was something really special about witnessing them exchange promises surrounded by only their closest people. It was simple, meaningful, and full of love, exactly the kind of ceremony that stays with you.
The decor was simple and beautiful. Christine’s bouquet was vibrant and colourful, such a stunning contrast to the minimalist table setup, which featured bud vases and candles. It was understated, elegant, and let the venue (and the couple) truly shine.
I only covered the cocktail hour, but it was just as lovely as the rest of the day, relaxed, cozy, and filled with meaningful conversations. You could really feel how close everyone was and how much love surrounded Christine & Brendan.
This wedding was such a special one for me. Christine & Brendan were incredibly kind and thoughtful, not only with each other but with everyone around them. It felt like such a genuine privilege to be there.
A fun little full-circle moment: I had photographed Nina & Lamar’s surprise wedding just three weeks earlier, and Brendan is Lamar’s brother! Nina had referred me, so getting to be part of another wedding in their circle felt extra meaningful.
Intimate weddings like this one will always have a special place in my heart. They remind me that at the core of it all, a wedding is simply about love, connection, and choosing to celebrate it in a way that feels true to you 🤍
